What's New for the 2019 Cherokee?

The most prominent change for the 2019 model year is cosmetic -- Jeep updated the new Cherokee with a reworked front fascia. The new look opts for a more conventional look with headlamps oriented above turn signals and daytime running lights. Other new features include a lighter rear liftgate, updated tail lamps, an update to the suspension system, and more. Performance varies even more with the addition of an available turbocharged four-cylinder engine option.

Performance and Capability

The 2019 Cherokee comes standard with a two-wheel drive setup and the 2.4-liter Tigershark Multiair 2 engine, which offers 180 horsepower and 170 pound-feet of torque. If you're looking for more power, you can find it in either the 271-horsepower Pentastar V6 or the 270-horsepower 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder. Three different four-wheel drive systems are available: Jeep Active Drive I, Jeep Active Drive II, and Jeep Active Drive Lock. Additionally, the available Selec-Terrain Traction Management System can adjust performance for difference conditions like snow, sand/mud, rock, and sport.

Technology and Safety

Gone are the days when the Jeep Cherokee relied on just passive safety features. Now, the 2019 Cherokee offers a long list of active safety technologies to help drivers at multiple points. Blind Spot Monitoring uses radar senses to keep an eye on low-visibility areas. If another vehicle is detected, the system will warn the driver. LaneSense Lane Departure Warning monitors lane lines to detect drifting. If, after warnings, the driver doesn't correct course, the Cherokee will self-correct.

Full-Speed Forward Collision Warning with Active Braking can detect oncoming collisions and automatically apply braking in response. Rear Cross Path Detection can let the drive know if other vehicles are coming while in reverse. Other systems like a rearview camera, Parking Assist, and Automated Parking can make every day driving around Middleburg FL that much easier.

Design and Comfort

On the outside, the 2019 Cherokee uses some classic Jeep styling cues like the seven-slot grille. New head and tail lamps offer a sturdy aesthetic, compared to the sleeker body lines along the side profile. New wheel options are also available.

The 2019 Cherokee's cabin is designed to provide a pleasant experience. Premium materials are available for a range of surfaces throughout the space, and leather upholstery comes with all but one trim level. Connectivity is enhanced as well with an updated Uconnect system offering Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
